I wanted to streamline and expand my collection of news articles focused on AI in Finance, allowing me to cast a wider net and collect articles of interest to share with others via LinkedIn and Substack.

Design

I used Claude to write a program that fetched news about AI topics in finance from across multiple sources, ranking each story from under the radar to trending, and consolidating in a location where I could mark articles of interest with a click.

Iteration

Now in Version 2.0, I’ve enhanced the news selector so that articles are ordered newest to oldest which allows for a quick perusal. In each iteration, I flag adjustments to news sources to ensure there is a wide range of accessible articles.

What I learned

Through this project, I learned a lot about the working with AI to clearly develop a prompt and evaluate the prompt results to ensure alignment with my vision. The clear directions also provided an entryway into editing python myself for regular updates such as data sources. I anticipate creating similar news curators to focus in on topics in a similar manner - allowing time to dive deep across several news sources.
